Why Killing Your Darlings Helps You Manifest 10x Faster
I appreciate you sticking with me as I’ve slowly, then all at once, moved into a different brand and business model. The catalyst, as I can now widely share, was this Almost 30 episode I recorded back in August with Lindsey. You can listen here!
A change has been percolating for months, and recording that podcast was like a catalyst I needed to stretch me into a different frequency, and I had to coalesce and get aligned in order to hold it.
What’s funny is, I know that sharing a “Teflon” idea, concept or decision is important, but I was impatient, leading to a “leaky” approach with the business rebrand. Before I decided on the final name and model, I felt that I would be letting people down if I killed my favorite darling and navigated away from my core business offering. After my decision? I felt completely different energetically. I felt that I would really let people down if I did NOT operate in this new model. It wasn’t just a difference, it was a complete 180.
The other thing that happens with the “Teflon approach” - once you share it, things line up in really magical ways. I finally decided on the name and vision sometime in October, and my team seemed to assemble overnight. Branding designer? Caroline is a client! Backend operational website changeover? My right-hand Grace was at the ready! Photoshoot? I sat next to my photographer Mark at a backyard BBQ hosted by our neighbors and my hair and MUA were a duo headed up by my regular hairstylist Hayley. That’s what we call alignment folks.
And so why tell you all this? Well, this is what I mean by intuitive business. The intuitive and practical aspects of my self HAD TO BE working in tandem. I couldn’t just sit in vision (intuitive), I had to assemble a team to hit deadlines and real deliverables (a well-oiled website). I couldn’t just follow a blueprint of former business success (practical), I had to experience and get into flow in order to figure out the right alchemic formula for success (intuitive).
If you’re sitting in a spot where you feel stuck on the final vision of what you desire in your career, but feel you’re in that sticky middle part, I truly GET IT. And experience it over and over again, even in my dream job. It’s the creative process! It’s messy but so much fun. Like the inside of a jelly donut.
Next week, let’s talk about the concept of an intuitive business model, in hopes that might help spark some ideas for you all too. In the meantime, check out the new offerings, free content on socials and listen to the podcast, all via the link below!
