Finding the Best Job for You

Ok, we’ve all been in toxic jobs with terrible bosses. Hell, it’s so relatable, it’s a successful movie franchise and there's one at the center of the most successful TV shows of all time. And of course, you've heard the oft cited phrase “people don’t leave jobs, they leave managers.”

But what if leaving doesn’t fix the problem? Because you’ve also heard the phrase “wherever you go, there you are,” right?

So what to do in this situation? Let’s talk about some ways to empower you through to the next phase and manifest your best case scenario.

Step one: Clear your energy.

It’s not only a nice thing to meditate in the morning, it’s imperative in order to attract the things you want into your life. It’s why SO many successful people cite meditation as their key to success - I even heard Jerry Seinfeld talking about it recently; would NOT have guessed that.

If meditation is tough for you, never fear - use a guided meditation! Here’s our free guide with an energy clearing for each sun sign done by our very own Sarah Partlo.

Step two: Get clear about what you DO want.

Don’t just grab a life-raft job! A life-raft job is the one you grab onto that you think will save you, but really its just another bad situation. I’ve done this unwittingly more times than I want to admit (at least two, the worst being when I left Alfred to join a Med Spa start up with a comically HORRIBLE boss and could only stay 3 months. (It’s not on my resume, story for a different day.)

What are the things that light you up and love about your job? What are the tasks people ask you to do and you get giddy to do them? What do your friends come to you for help with? These are all key indicators of the best case scenario job for you.

Want to use Astrology to help? Check out this series to remember what you’re great at! I’d recommend looking at your Sun and your Rising sign at least.

Step three: Use your strengths to help you support yourself / search for a new gig.

Alignment is something we can get really practiced in! Have you looked at your profile line in Human Design? For instance, my 4/6 ensures I only get new opportunities through my network. No blind applies for me (and they’ve NEVER worked for me in jobs, or in love, like the apps). Learn more about your profile lines by looking up your chart here and listening to this episode of the podcast with Clinton Edward.

OR

Maybe you’re not ready to throw in the towel, there are ways to find more alignment within your role. Are you a Projector in Human Design but acting like a Generator? Maybe you’re taking on too much, and would be better served to focus on the things you’re really great at instead of what everyone is asking of you. Or maybe you’re a Generator without any collaboration in your role, feeling lost with no stimuli to bounce your ideas off of. There are small tweaks you can make to account for big changes.

And lastly, maybe there are environmental shifts that can be made to change your experience. Are you coming into a mostly white environment as a woman of color in a position of power? Maybe there aren’t structures in place for you to be successful and it’s time to change things. Or are you a white woman in charge of managing a diverse workforce? Maybe you need education yourself to ensure you’re supporting them to thrive.

Simply put, the act of leaving doesn’t fix the problem, YOU will fix the problem.
